Commissionned work for CHU Sainte-Justine's surgery department
In 2019, CHU Sainte-Justine, a children’s hospital in Montreal, had the plan to refresh their surgery department. That’s when Dr. Dominic Venne, chief of surgery department and neurosurgeron approached the artist Janna Yotte for a very special commission. The goal was to create one artwork for each individual department, which include: neurology, cardiology, ophthalmology, plastic surgery, urology, general surgery, ORL and orthopedic. The collages represents precisely the area of expertise of it’s specific field using exclusively the organs the surgeon works with. Despite being explicit, the assemblages reveal the body in it’s strong and impressive nature with intention to create an inspiring new vision of health for the patients who sees them.
As a former patient of the Sainte-Justine Hospital, this project has been an honour and a profoundly meaningful creation to the artist.
