Selected artworks from Fleshed out / Le fruit de mes entrailles, a solo exhibition presented at Institut National d’art contemporain, in October of 2022.
Cutting, moving, gluing. Repeating, again and again, with attention and care. To observe the result of your labour, as one observes their reflection in the mirror. Seeing something new. Meeting yourself once more.
In the individual exhibition Fleshed out / Le fruit des mes entrailles, Janna Yotte showcases her abandoned skins: collages inspired by her life’s most impactful moments. In these pieces, the artist forms new beings with images taken from medical and biology volumes. The human body reveals its history in each organ; the snake represents life’s twists and turns, causing suffering and miracles; the nourishing or poisonous mushroom, bringer of dreams, emerges from forgotten matter. With this exhibition, the artist goes beyond the creation of new bodies to live, experience and feel them. Like her pieces, the artist is coming to the end of a long transformation cycle; the pieces assembled here revealing the evolution of the artist’s identity.
